Home Instead Senior Care’s next webinar in their Family Caregiver Support Series is Wednesday, July 9. Houston caregivers can tune in at 12 noon Central to view the next installment in this innovative and informative series. On July 9, “Supporting Families Through Hospice” covers a topic that many families wish they knew more about but didn’t know where to turn for the answers.
A difficult time
One of the most challenging situations that home caregivers face occurs when a loved one approaches the end of his or her life. When those for whom they care require hospice or palliative assistance, caregivers often suffer emotional stress, physical strain, or psychological trauma.
The “Supporting Families Through Hospice” webinar, which will be led by Molly Carpenter, is intended to provide resources and strategies for both senior care professionals and home caregivers. The webinar will cover information about hospice and palliative care, as well as methods for handling the physical, emotional, and psychological problems that are common in such situations.
Among the specific learning objectives of this webinar are:
- Explaining the differences between hospice and palliative care.
- Describing the most common medical conditions referred to in hospice.
- Identifying members of the typical hospice team.
Molly Carpenter, the webinar’s presenter, is an author, speaker, trainer, and family caregiver with years of personal and professional elder care experience. She works with a team responsible for ensuring that the Home Instead Senior Care network’s 60,000 caregivers have the resources necessary to provide quality in-home care and understand the importance of their work in enhancing the lives of those whom they serve.
