You have until Saturday, March 1 to submit or vote for your Home Instead Senior Care’s Salute to Senior Service nominee.
We all know those special volunteers in our community who give their time and talents to their favorite charities or organizations. Today’s the day to recognize and salute those outstanding senior volunteers who work to make their community a better place for their fellow residents. Home Instead Senior Care’s Salute to Senior Service program honors the contributions of adults 65 and over who give at least 15 hours a month of volunteer service to their favorite causes.
How the Contest Works
Nominations and votes for outstanding senior volunteers will be accepted through March 1, 2014, so be sure to submit your entries in time to meet the deadline.
Home Instead, Inc. will donate $500 to each of the state winners’ favorite nonprofit organizations and the winners’ stories will be posted on the Salute to Senior Service Wall of Fame. In addition, Home Instead Inc. will donate $5,000 to the national winner’s nonprofit charity of choice.
Recognizing Senior Volunteers
“We all know seniors who do so much for our community,” said Chris Lerch, owner of the Home Instead Senior Care office Southwest Houston . “These silent heroes give selflessly, expecting nothing in return, and yet, their contributions often make a difference not only to the organizations they serve, but in changing how the public views growing older.” Home Instead Inc. wants to recognize the contributions of such seniors.
If you are a senior care professional, or if you work at a hospital, senior care facility, or other place where seniors volunteer, consider nominating a deserving older adult. Family caregivers and the adult children of aging parents may also wish to nominate their loved ones. Or, dedicated seniors may self-nominate themselves for their efforts.
